Planting - At SPM Tree & Shrub we believe in planting trees and shrubs correctly the first time to avoid any future problems that commonly occur because of incorrect planting. Taking the time to make sure that all packaging materials are removed and that trees and shrubs are planted at the right height is imperative to the long term health of the tree.

Shrub Care - Correct timing of pruning and proper soil care are just a couple of the things that set us apart from the competition. Every shrub is different, has different growth habits, and a specified set of environmental conditions in which they thrive. We have in depth knowledge of all these factors so that we keep you shrubs as healthy and beautiful as possible.

Hedge Row Care - There are many species of trees that can be used as hedge rows. Each species needs to be managed slightly differently to work as a hedge. We have the tools to maintain them efficiently while at the same time keeping them green and full.

Tree Pruning - There are many different reasons to prune trees; safety, aesthetics, clearance, fruit and flower production etc. We look at each tree individually while working with the client to achieve their desired goals for each tree, while at the same time taking the utmost care in the long term health of each tree.

Tree Preservation - Unfortunately construction and site work damage is all too common. The damage to the root systems can sometimes be irreversible and not be visible for up to 5 years after the damage occurs. There are ways to mitigate some of the damage but the best approach is to attempt to preserve trees before the construction process starts. A few simple steps can save costly removals and heartbreaking tree losses in the future.

Soil Care - The root of plant health begins with having healthy soils. The first step that we do is getting a lab analysis of soil samples so we can then go about correcting any deficiencies. Using a combination of deep root prescription fertilization we also incorporate organic compost, mulches, and whatever else may be necessary to give your plants the proper environment to grow in.

Insect and Disease Control - Many ornamental plants in the landscape have opportunist insect and disease issues that affect their health. The first step to fighting insects and diseases is trying to alleviate any stresses that may be affecting the plants so that it can naturally try to fend off insects and diseases. When damage occurs above thresholds established by educating the client, then intervention by using fungicides, insecticides, herbicides, and bactericides can be established by using an Integrated Pest Management approach. When possible we utilize organic and low impact materials to control pest populations.

Tree Removal - When the unfortunate situation arises that a tree dies or becomes hazardous and needs to be removed we have the skilled climbers to get the job done efficiently and safely. We remove all debris from site unless otherwise requested and leave every job site just as clean as when we arrived.

Stump Grinding - Stumps are ground down 6-8” below grade and the grinding are either backfilled into the hole or removed off site and the hole left to grade.

Storm Damage/Emergency Care - Storms can happen at any time and we are always on call to help you out of a tough situation.

Lightning Protection - Lightning strikes are very common and usually occur on the largest of mature trees in an area. Lightning protection systems are designed to protect these trees from being victims of the next storm that can kill or damage these valuable trees.

Holiday Light and Aerial Landscape Light Installation - Using our aerial lift unit and expert climbers we can install and remove small and large scale holiday light displays without doing any damage to the trees they are installed in. These can be wonderful additions to any landscape during the holidays.
